Westchester Town Center Business Improvement District
This Business Improvement District located near Los Angeles International Airport hired CNSS to provide guard services and implement an Ambassador program. CNSS worked closely with local property owners, conducted surveys among the customers who visited the area and developed a strategic security plan that has not only increased the perception of safety among shoppers and reduced actual crimes, but has also made the area more friendly and welcoming. Using a bicycle patrol, the business district is patrolled on a regular basis, and the CNSS Ambassador is always available to answer questions and provide information in this busy area.
In 2011, the CNSS Ambassador patrolling the area even saved the life of a customer who had passed out in her locked car. It was a sweltering day, and the Ambassador discovered the woman slumped over her steering wheel in the parking lot. He was able to gain access to the car, call 9-1-1 and provide care until the paramedics arrives. He was subsequently honored in a ceremony at City Hall for saving the woman’s life.
Retail Shopping Center
(Client name withheld for confidentiality) - City National Security Services is often called upon to overhaul security plans when other firms have failed. At this retail shopping center, a previous security contractor had allowed chaos to reign in the parking lot – employees were parking in areas designated for customers, patrons of another facility were parking in the center’s lot and retail customers could rarely find a convenient spot to park. As a result, tenants saw a significant decline in revenue.
City National Security Services was called in to implement a new plan. Immediately, CNSS put in place a new warning ticket system with checks and balances. Permits were issued to employees explaining the restrictions and penalties. Reports were kept, and repeat offenders were towed. Los Angeles Parking Enforcement officers were called to ticket cars that were parked illegally while their owners shopped off-site. In addition, CNSS officers intercepted drivers who were planning to park illegally and turned them away. The result has been an orderly parking lot that is not only safe, but also efficient. Merchants have seen a significant increase in revenue since the new plan was implemented, and customers can now easily find parking near their favorite merchants.
High School Campus
(Client name withheld for confidentiality) - City National Security Services recognizes that security situations on campus present unique security challenges and require the ability to balance the freedoms expected by student, faculty and visitors with the need to protect the school. CNSS was called in to deal with a difficult campus setting in which two charter schools shared the same campus. A great deal of animosity existed between the students at each school, and gang members had regularly infiltrated the school grounds. Loitering was a significant problem after the school day ended, and the campus was perceived as unsafe.
City National Security immediately developed a security plan that involved regular patrols and a close working relationship with the Los Angeles Police Department. CNSS’s connections and history of working with LAPD enabled security officers and police offers to work hand-in-glove to address issues at and around the campus. Today, gang members know the campus is a place where they are not welcome, and students at both schools are safer than ever before.
(Client name withheld for confidentiality) - At a major Los Angeles office building, hundreds of employees come and go every hour. A place where small firms and Fortune 500 companies operate, though, is a haven for door-to-door solicitors and those who loiter in the lobby and around the building to take advantage of all those employees. City National Security Services was called in to address what had become an epidemic of solicitors that had companies locking their doors rather than dealing with the constant interruptions.
CNSS immediately implemented a reporting program, where building tenants could call on-site security officers to report solicitors. Security officers also challenged obvious solicitors as they tried to enter the building and sent them away. In addition, regular sweeps around the exterior of the building kept salespeople from gathering out front. Today, employees are free to work without being constantly interrupted by solicitors, and the reduction in unauthorized people inside the building has resulted in a significant decrease in office break-ins and other theft.
